Fastball COVID 19 Info

The Softball BC suspension of play has been lifted under new guidelines. As British Columbia public health authorities developed guidelines to lift some restrictions on gathering in a responsible way, Softball BC has been working with viaSport and the Province of British Columbia to understand the recommendations of our Chief Provincial Health Officer and how they best apply within sport.

As a result the Softball BC "Back to Bases" Return to Sport Plan has been developed for our sport in order to ensure:

  • Health and safety of all individuals is a priority.
  • Activities are in alignment with provincial health recommendations.
  • Modifications to activities are in place in order to reduce the risks to each sport organization and its participants.
  • Our sport is united and aligned on a plan to reopen throughout the province.
  • The plan can be viewed here: - UPDATED JUNE 15th

While we do hope things will return to normal in the not too distant future, currently the guidelines in the Softball BC "Back to Bases" Return to Sport Plan will be the "new normal" until we are advised otherwise by public health authorities.

Currently every player registered prior to the shutdown in March remains rostered on their team. If your player chooses to continue to participate, they must follow these rules:

  • If you don't feel well or are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, you must stay home.
  • If you have traveled outside of Canada, you are not permitted at the facility until you have self-isolated for a minimum of 14 days.
  • If you live in a household with someone who has COVID-19 or is showing symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home.
  • Wash your hands before participating.
  • Bring your own equipment, water bottle and hand sanitizer.
  • Comply with physical distancing measures at all times.
  • Avoid physical contact with others, including shaking hands, high fives, etc.
  • Leave the field of play as quickly as possible after you finish.
  • Complete the new Softball BC Waivers and COVID Declaration (will be sent via email).

Season Timeline:

The season will begin in approximately 1-2 weeks once we have Field Permits in place and will run into September (tentative date for Provincials).

  • Inning 1 - June 10th - start of U10 and up practices for rostered players only once Field Permit approvals are in place.
  • Inning 2 - June 17th - start of U8 practices for up to 10 players max once approvals are in place.
  • Inning 3 - July 1st - games may be played within your District (CRD) once Provincial Health approvals are in place (there will be no games for U8 as the new Softball Canada Timbits program will focus on skill development)
  • Inning 4 - TBD - allows minor games within their zone (Vancouver Island)
  • Inning 5 - TBD - allows Provincials and Inter-Regional play

If you choose to continue please complete the new Softball BC Waivers here:

  1. Participants under 19 (Players)
  2. Participants 19+ (Parents and Coaches)
  3. COVID Declaration (Players, Parents, Coaches)
  4. Consent of Info/Photo (Players, Coaches)

Registration is open for more players:

We are reopening registration as we anticipate that we will have a couple of extra roster spots available at each age level. If your player has a friend that would like to play they can register here:

Please review the available information and if you have any questions regarding the new guidelines or scheduling conflicts please don't hesitate to email and we will do our best to help address any concerns. If your player wishes to withdraw from playing this year please email our Registrar at

The Softball BC "Back to Bases" Return to Sport Plan is based on current public health guidance. While we are all doing our best to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19, while the virus circulates in our communities it is impossible to completely eliminate the risk. Each participant must make their own decision as to whether it is in their best interest to continue participation at this time. You must take into account your own circumstances and make the decision that is right for you. Should you choose to join us, we require your full cooperation with our Return to Sport Plan.
